We assure you of our concern for the safety and welfare of children attending WCDS. Our emergency operations plan provides for response to all types of emergencies.

Depending on the circumstances, we will use one of the following protective actions.

  1. In-place sheltering – Sudden occurrences such as weather or hazardous materials may dictate that we take cover inside the building as the best response.

  2. Modified operations – May include cancellation or postponement of normal activities (winter storm, utility interruption, etc.).

  3. Immediate evacuation – Students are evacuated to a safe area on the grounds in the event of fire.
  4. Total evacuation – any danger in the area may require us to relocate to a relocation facility. From the West Goshen building we would go to East Senior High School on Paoli Pike.

Please listen to KYW news radio 1060 AM or WPVI-TV for announcements relating to emergency action listed above. We ask that you not call during an emergency. This will keep the main phone line open for emergency calls and relay information. We will call you to let you know that we’ve taken one of these protective actions. We will also call you when we’ve resolved the situation and it is safe for you to pick up your child. We may provide an alternate phone number for you to contact us during an emergency.

Only those persons listed on your emergency contact form may pick up your child. We will not release a child to anyone who is not listed on the form. We specifically urge you not to attempt to make different arrangements during an emergency. This will only create additional confusion and divert staff from their assigned emergency duties.
